What to automate first

A simple rule for choosing your first play: automate the thing that's costing you money while you sleep.

Everyone wants to automate everything on day one. Don’t. Pick the one place work is leaking — the follow-up that never happens, the lead that goes cold, the ticket that misses its SLA — and start there.

The rule

Automate the task that (1) happens constantly, (2) follows a predictable pattern, and (3) costs you money when it’s late or forgotten. That’s almost always follow-up.

A first play, step by step

  1. Connect your inbox and CRM as two live tiles.
  2. Turn on the Sales team so every new lead lands in the CRM automatically.
  3. Let Macey draft the follow-up — you approve the first few, then let it run.
  4. Check “Needs You Today” once a day for the ones that need a human.

One week of that and you’ll have a feel for where the next play should go.
